Since its birth in 1890's when the downtown business district began to develop with roots in the lumber and oil industries, Conroe has been dubbed "The Miracle City". It's proven this by surviving two huge downtown fires.

Showing an amazing amount of spirit, "The Miracle City" bounced back and built again. Conroe now has a population of approximately 45,000 residents.

Entertainment has been an important part of the fabric of the community. In the 1930's - Crighton Theatre was built for live entertainment. Big name acts have graced the stage here. A certain blue suede shoe wearing singer by the name Elvis Presley performed at the Crighton in the 1950's.

Conroe continues to be a great place to live. There are many activities for youths and adults alike. The Fun Quest Spring Brfeak at the Oscar Johnson Jr Community Center is a nice way to give your kids some fun things to do during spring break in Conroe. You can check out the Texas Tenors and other shows sponsored by the Montgomery County Performing Arts Society.

You can find lots of shoreline in and around Lake Conroe for water activities like fishing and water skiing. You can even rent a party barge to enjoy with your friends.
